Writing in to share my enthusiasm about the discovery of Macpup, and about any subsequent possible inclusion of Tremulous--a family favorite here--the Macpup Team was quite so gracious to advise that, since the latest Macpup (511) is binary compatible with ubuntu, an install of Tremulous was indeed quite very possible. Would I let them know my results? Surely! The results are, of couse, like the Macpup Team, pure gold and success. The sole caveat is that, for Tremulous, you must more simply load up "ubuntu-lucid-mulitiverse" to find the required Tremulous packages.
So here's what I did:
I launched Quickpet from the dock, clicked the "More Pets" menu option to launch "Puppy Package Manager" (now henceforth abbreviated as PPM). [Notably: You may also launch PPM directly by clicking in the desktop, choosing Applications, selecting Setup, then selecting "Puppy Package Manager". Alternatively, you may also simply type 'ppm' in any terminal, and press the "Enter" key.) I then clicked a "Configure package manager" button in PPM, and in the subsequently opening dialogue box, I checked "ubuntu-lucid-mulitiverse" (which is where you'll find these all-important Tremulous packages), and having done so, straightaway clicked "Update". Here's where PPM starts taking care of business...(time for a spot of hot tea! Amen!), so it doesn't hurt to relax and ponder the joy of Macpup while you wait a short while.
By the time you wake from your blissful reverie, however, PPM (Puppy Package Manager) will likely have interrupted you to confirm a few things before it continues! Just hit 'Enter'. When it's done, PPM informs you that it has indeed updated to the requested repositories, but requires a restart of PPM, before you'll see them.
So close out, relaunch PPM, surf to the 'ubuntu-lucid-mulitverse' repo, select the 'Fun' radio button, and scroll down to find your Tremulous. PPM will advise you of dependencies that you will have to check, but having done so, PPM installs all packages flawlessly.
voilĂ ! You now have working Tremulous!!! THANK YOU, MACPUP TEAM!!!
