I'm a newbie but have successfully loaded and am running MacPup 411 and PuppyLinux on 6 different laptops of various ages, as well as a number of different desktop machines. The oldest is a Toshiba 330CDS with 96MB of RAM and 133 Pentium MMX. People scratch their heads when they see the apple logo and wbar on this old dog! Especially when I reply innocently, "I thought everyone knew how to run OS/X on old Intel boxes."
My problem is with a USB Teac CD-210PU cd rom device not mounting on any Puppy release, but most importantly my Dell Latitude L400, 256MB RAM P3 with MacPup 411. It's about the size of a new Acer Aspire and I got it for free - good reasons to use it! HardInfo shows the CD under USB devices and Storage devices, but it does not appear as an option via Pmount. This is the only USB device I have not been able to mount from my collection of flash sticks, memory card readers, wireless sticks, and USB hard drives.
I'm woefully poor at the root prompt but eager to learn and contribute to the collective experience of the forum. I've posted this on the Puppy Linux forum as well. Please let me know what additional info I can provide to learn how to fix this hardware issue.
Thanks in advance!
