   I booted live to MacPup 520 and tried to install the ATI drivers from the puppy package manager drivers tab. It downloaded ATI_fglrx-10.10-lucid.pet and when it began to install, the computer locked tight and would not allow the mouse to move or any input or change to the screen for over 10 minutes. All I could do is hold down the power button for about 5 seconds and do a hard reboot. I am running on a new HP Pavilion notebook with an AMD Phenom II triple core processor, 4gb ram, ati 4250 video chip, and a 640gb drive. MacPup should fly, when it does not lock up. How do I safely install the opengl ati drivers?

   PS - I posted this in another forum so if these are monitored by the same people, I am sorry to repeat the question. Even before I finished this post, someone responded on the other board. I have never seen anyone respond so quickly. Hope to hear from someone here soon.

   I have looked the .pet over and found the issues. I sent Prit a message about uploading the fixed version but I have't heard back yet. But If you download and save the ATI.pet You can fix it yourself. What you need to do is move the .pet into /root/working . That is the folder where I do all my stuff, building themes .compiling /fixing stuff, etc....

   Onec you get it in there open a terminal in /root/working and run this:

   pet2tgz ATI_fglrx-10.10-lucid.pet

   That will change the .pet into a .tgz click on it to unpack it. In the archiver window select all and then extract.

   That will make a new folder in /working named the same as the .pet In that folder you will find all the stuff located in the folder where they will get installed to. The parts that are causing the problem are /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so delete it. Also delete /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 After you have done this all you need to do is copy everything else out of that folder to your system. Example: in the .pet folder everything in /etc goes in your system in /ect . In the folder /usr/lib goes in /usr/lib. After you have copied everything over Click on the pinstall.sh script to run it and then reboot.

   So please clear this up for me. I have a Dell Latitude C610 laptop..1.0GHz Pentium III, 512 megs ram, 40 gig hd, CDRW, ATI graphics chip. So, should i use this new modified ATI_fglrx-10.10-macpup.pet OR use this Xorg_High-1.1-macpup.pet? Or both? And how do I add compiz, use Comp-520-01.pet? Thanks for your patience and efforts to make this distro a winner.

   See which one quickpet recommends. Then use the macpup version. The Comp .pet is the composite module for e17. In mp 511 it was very buggy.I can't test it cause I can't run compositing on my computer so it may or may not work. I have it as a extra cause it did work for some people the last time.The only way to use e17 with compiz is to run ecomorph. I don't compile that cause I cant test it and fixing it would be a shot in the dark.
