I'm still researching this, but I think there is a problem with connecting to samba shares. I have puppy511 and macpup511 both installed and pnethood works fine and fast in puppy, but in macpup it is not.
on macpup, it is slow to scan the network, refuses to remember the user/pwd correctly (the config file shows the information being stored against the wrong server), and will not rescan or refresh (which makes trying to get it work in the first place problematical... get the connection information established for one tab, quit, go back in, try for another one, rinse and repeat).
I was trying the raw mount commands earlier today, and getting errors but my unfamiliarity with them is making it difficult to figure out how to proceed.
ugh, so, to make sure I wasn't a liar, I went back into macpup and was able (for the first time) to get two different machines to connect and show without hanging. One was a windows box that has been my focus; the 2nd is an ubuntu, which has some public shares, and the scan seemed to pick up the protected ones as well; A third machine will not show its shares however, the REFRESH and RESCAN still not apparently doing anything.
