Macpup opera fails to boot

Macpup Opera won't boot on my Acer Aspire 5100 laptop from a usb CDRW drive which works fine for everything else. I finally tried to boot using verbose mode 7 and the booting stops and the cd spins down and stops at the line "fuse init (API version 7.9)". I seemed to have good luck with the same setup using previous versions of macpup as long as I used the retro kernel. Is there a boot option I can type before boot to make this work or will it require a cd remaster or kernel recompile, which I'm not qualified to perform yet as a noob. Your help would be extremely appreciated as Linux is now the only option in this household.

If earlier retro's worked for you, i think it might be the kernel/driver incompatibility. Unfortunately, we don't have a retro for Macpup Opera. Next time, we will make sure the macpup will have a retro version. Sorry about this.

My question then would be, what is broken in the new kernel that creates all this extra work for everyone? Should I report this as a bug to the Kernel folks? I suspected it may be a kernel issue but was hoping that the new kernel was fixed and that was the reason I saw no retro version. Thank you for taking the time to respond and confirm my suspicions. BTW this was my first post, usually search engines have helped me, but I got stumped this time. Appreciate what you all do.

I think more than the new kernel, something that Puppy is doing with the driver loading or something is causing this. Because, if I use the same new kernel in some other distros, then it would work great. So, I suspect that this might be the way Puppy is booting up with this new kernel. I have not been able to figure this out yet.

Can you try posting the same question on the main Puppy forum? - http://murga-linux.com/puppy. If not, let me know and I can post it too.
