Macpup Opera 2.0

Macpup Opera 2.0 (a.k.a. O2) is based on puppylinux 4.3.1 (k2.6.30.5) .O2 has all
the apps from
4.3.1 plus Opera 10.10 and Gimp 2.6.3 .O2 also Has Dbus 1.2.16 . The
Enlightenment e17
window manager version .061 was also compiled and installed from source.
You can also use jwm. Use the exit menu to change window managers ,
In e17 that is the exit icon on the desktop.Please note that not all the
options in the e17 system shutdown menu work with puppy linux.That is
why the exit menu was
added.

The battery module in this build of E17 had a problem of Maxing out the cpu.So
I removed it in O2.I have added a script to check battery status .
Just click on the battery icon if you are using a laptop.

The included e17 themes are By Verdegal37 or ZaZoo and are customized
for Macpup.

This is the first macpup that wasn't a remaster .I rebuilt the pup-431.sfs by hand ttuuxxx style.The .iso is 164 mb.

1. Download smooth 2. Burn to CD with XP smooth 3. Live CD boot smooth. Great Distro. Congratulations! 4. Install to fat 32 on 4 GB USB flash with one folder (_OS) containing 3 GB files. Appeared OK 5. Tried to boot it & obtained strange desktop which was distorted, unusable. Managed to poweroff OK 6. Looked at files using XP 7. Overwrote all files except pup-431.sfs with files saved from a regular PUPPY install dated 2009. 8. Attempted another boot from flash. WOW ... SLICK ... INSTANTANEOUS ... LOVE IT! A 10 year leap ahead. 9. Test: m00n.awardspace.co.uk Watched TV without buffer stops (DSL) Test: f0g.50webs.net/LIVE.htm Listened to FOX while checking mail. All is very well.

Then I put the flash into another XP computer and compressed the MacPup files into a SFX file with winrar. I moved it to the _OS folder and deleted the original MacPup files. After using the flash for other duties, I "expanded" the MacPup to the clean area in front of the _OS folder. Perfect operating function. Expanded it onto a mini SD memory card. Perfect operating function. Again you have developed a superb system with outstanding functionality. Thank you. frog

Hello Runtt21 --- MacPup Opera2 is sensational. Works like a champ on my gear. I'm not sure that I will change from Foxy 3 immediately, because I like Firefox better that Opera for a web browser. But one thing I would like to share is that I used the new theme for Opera 2 to transform Foxy 3.

No, fox 3 is still on the older version page and will be for a while even fox 1.5 is still up. It's been out for 5 months now , its Opera's turn. I love them both like my kids. The Fox line will continue. You should give opera a try ,it's really good , just give it a chance.

Hello Agust, Would it be possible to get macpup versions of the backgrounds from your A-Blue-One-S1 , A-Blue-Two-S1 and A-Special-One-S1 themes? I like those themes very much but I need to do some work on them the clocks don't work in opera 2.0 something has changed with the .edc file and I will need to change it back.

I am still tweaking my install of MacPup Opera 2, and was wondering if there is a difference in the settings menu from MacPup Foxy 3? As I recall with Foxy 3, if you clicked on the arrows to the left or right of the settings panel, this would move the menu options to the right or left. With Opera 2, clicking the arrows does nothing. I am able to use the cursor keys to move through the top menu items so I am able to do what I need to do, but is there an option to enable the arrows?

The version of e17 in O2 is older than the one in fox 3 . If you have a mouse wheel put the pointer on the top option section and roll the wheel back and forth. Those arrows dont do anything on o2.

Hello everyone !

I started with default Puppy 4.3.1 in April this year and it is working but it is also a little childish to me. So I searched for other Puppies and started with Macpup_Opera2. In June I installed Macpup_Foxy3 to three partitions on a 5,1/4" HD 4GB, 1.2 GB each (ext2,ext2 -j,ext4 - first PIII 650 MHz 320 RAM; now simply attatched to AMD athlon 1050 MHz 384 MB RAM - everything is detected and the bootup is astoninglishly fast now :) ). :) Unfortunately :) I damaged all three partitions by loglevel=-1 and fsck (mv,cp,rm a lot to lost+found); maybe unproper poweroffs and mounts. One day after another I get them fixed by searching for the needed files and copying from the other partitions - /dev/sdc1 for example) (Of course a complete newinstall would be really faster ...)
:) E17 sometimes behaves like a donkey or confuses :)
One thing was that /root/.e/e/themes/A-Wood-Macpup3.edj* changed to

It is really beautifull. I love it. I just copied it to the

Hi runtt21 !

Clicking the arrows at the settings panel at Opera2 .061 works.
I was running it live yesterday and the Opera2.edj + Black2.edj + Imago-Macpup.edj were accepting clicking the arrows also illume.edj and default.edj did. I also copied the first three themes to F3 full and there they did also work.

chmod 755 mpcalm like the others did not help for the arrows but also did not produce an error message.

But also thanks to paule for investigating the fontsize. Look > Scaling > check Scale relative to screen DPI did not do the trick alone but Look > Fonts > check Enable Custom Font Classes has to be set also.

I also tried to load some Opera2 modules at F3 and renamed -02 to -03. It was possible to load them at Settings Panel > Extensions > Modules but at Shelves > shelf-nr > Setup > Set Contents it crashed unfortunately with saying ...not found in the search directories.

I guess the search directories are withhin compiled .edj or .cfg , but if not it would be nice to hear about the path of the search directories file to add them manually.

Now, that I increased the font-size E17 is not that donkey anymore...! It is actually very stable, even more stable than jwm as far my experience can tell !

THe thing with the arrows is theme related caused by the new version of e17 . If a theme is based off the newest default theme like Agust newest stuff some of the things(arros,clocks) wont work . But all the older themes do.
